Good Design is like music to the eyes

Providing meaning to a mass of unrelated needs, ideas, and pictures – it is the designer’s job to select and fit this material together and make it play like a symphony.

What I do

Each piece of information, each learned process or technique, and each new challenge evolves within my mind and becomes part of the infinite pool of ideas I rely on for the work I do. As a life-long graphic generalist and improvisational music artist, I have learned to use all disciplines together to influence design in surprising ways. Also, considering my acquired experience with many clients in hundreds of commercial ventures, each creative partnership adds new notes to my repertoire and helps to inform and influence new creations as I savor the old and expand with the current and cutting edges of new design.

How I do it

My designs won’t often look solemn because the clients who are attracted to my work have vibrant ideas they wish to see emerge. I believe in giving a lively visual personality to the graphic elements that reflect their colorful, courageous pursuit of their dreams. In my work, I use everything I have ever learned as an artist as I listen for the unique melodies of the client to rise above all other sounds. My eyes, like a camera, pan the horizon for all possible sightings to incorporate into our design. I tend to separate a job into many tracks, testing them, mixing them, and harmonizing the many views and voices that have slipped into my imagination until the finished product is something we are proud to share with the world. This is the work I have been doing for decades and it doesn’t get old or stale. Graphic design and communication continues to excite me with each new project that arrives in my studio.
